Allying with medical disposables

Allied Healthcare was established in Chennai in 1992 as a proprietary concern for stocking and selling medical consumables. It used to deal with cardiac related disposables initially, but now switched over to equipments and its disposables in the areas of Cardiology, Operation Theatre and ICU. The company trades in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala through its own sales force and works through distributors in the rest of the country.

The Products

Allied Healthcare distributes the products of US based company, Megadyne Medicals. The products are consumables and disposables in electro surgery like laparoscopy. Generators, PTFE coated pencils, tips, return pads, bipolar products, laparoscopic products, smoke evacuators, etc are some of the products from this company.

"The products have patents and come with necessary certifications for quality and safety," says K Haridasan, Managing Partner. Megadyne will introduce reusable pediatric pads named MegaSoft in the second quarter of this financial year. Allied Healthcare plans a simultaneous introduction of the same product in India.

Allied Healthcare sells multi programmable infusion pumps and syringe pumps of Germany based Caesarea Medical Electronics. In fact, Allied Healthcare is the sole distributor of the company in India. "We sell these pumps across India," says Haridasan. 'Bodyguard' range of pump is unique for its small size and is probably the only pump with so many infusion programmes - continuous, TPN, 25 steps, intermittent, PCA and Sinusoidal - available in a single pump. It works on piston technology making it ideal even for blood infusion. These pumps are the smallest available ones and have a good response. This German manufacturer also makes PCA, Enteral, Dual Channel, Epidural and Syringe Pumps and marketed in India through Allied Healthcare India.

The company also deal in Cardiology products like Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitor, Holter and Stress Tests with Wireless technology with a sampling rate of 16000/sec.

The Service

The company undertakes periodic service as well as breakdown calls for the products it sells. It also undertakes post warranty service through labour contracts and annual maintenance contracts.
