Dr Lal PathLabs Bags 'Emerging India Award' 2008
Dr Lal PathLabs (LPL) has been awarded with 'CNBC TV18 Emerging India Award
2008' by ICICI Bank Business Banking in the pharmaceuticals and chemicals category.
John Hutton, MP and Secretary of State for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory
Reform, presented the award to Dr Arvind Lal, CMD and OP Manchanda, CEO, Dr
Lal PathLabs in London. The guest of honour for the ceremony was LN Mittal,
Chairman and CEO, Arcelor Steel. The ceremony was graced by Kamal Nath, Union
Minister of Commerce and Industry and other distinguished guests from the corporate
world. Speaking on the achievement, Dr Arvind Lal said, "This is a moment
of joy for the entire LPL family. We have once again proved that team work is
the bulwark of LPL." He further said, "This award is in recognition
of our hard work and I dedicate this to our team, our shareholders and our valued
customers, whose feedback and support have helped us become what we are today."
While presenting the award, John Hutton said, "Winners of this award will
be distinguished as new icons in the Indian industry. They will set an example
for the other players in the industry and inspire them to put in better efforts.
The new winners in the SME sector should emerge as a symbol of good corporate
governance."
The pathology major has 29 laboratories across India, nine
of which are in the National Capital Region (NCR). In recent times, the company
has set up 26 Patient Service Centres in Delhi/NCR, besides centres in major
towns like Mumbai, Kolkata, Patna, Ranchi, Amritsar, Ludhiana, Chandigarh, Jammu,
Gorakhpur, Varanasi and Lucknow. The company has recently set up a state-of-the
art 4,000 sq ft facility at its Gurgaon headquarters exclusively for clinical
trial operations. Future plans include setting up a mega 82,000 sq. ft laboratory
at Rohini in North Delhi, which is expected to be completed by year-end.
