Every organisation has to face the challenges and overcome
them for better outcome in the future. According to Dr Hegde, the biggest challenge
they face is the rising costs of healthcare personnel. "Especially, the
salaries of doctors are coming up due to increasing number of corporate hospitals
and this being a completely charitable Hospital, it is very difficult to match
their expectations," says Dr Hegde.
New Technologies
Recently, the Hospital adopted a new mode of compression
from Matrix View Private Limited to compress echo cardiogram videos, to make
it available to cardiologist across the hospital network. Also, they are evaluating
Viscope-a stethoscope with visual signal capabilities, from an Australian company.
"We are adopting full-fledged PACS system shortly and also upgrading our
network shortly to 10 GBPS," says Dr Hegde. The Hospital has also upgraded
the Hospital Information System (HIS) from Medicom HIS to IBA-eHIS with necessary
upgrades to servers," he adds.
Patient Care
Rendering services free-of-cost does not imply that the Hospital compromises
on patient care. They have set up quality control and patient audit departments,
which give constant feedback on patient care outcomes. Also, there is a separate
patient welfare officer who is in constant touch with patient and takes care
of their needs.
