Founded in 2006, the multi-disciplinary super-specialty Wockhardt
Hospitals, Bangalore today treats 250 patients per day in its OPD. This 200
bedded Hospital is all geared up to further expand its capacity to 300 beds.

Wockhardt had undergone many landmark surgeries this year.
"An open-heart surgery successfully performed on the smallest baby in the
country (literature published in paediatric cardiac surgery), brain tumour surgery
through nose, bypass surgery with valve replacement, and removal of tumour from
the heart measuring 8x10x12 cm performed at the Hospital are our biggest achievements
of this year, " says Dr Lloyd Nazareth, Chief Operating Officer.
USP
This Hospital is positioned as a super-specialty Hospital, with focus on cardiac,
orthopaedics, neurosciences, minimal access surgery and women and child services.
Says Dr Nazareth, "Wockhardt Hospitals have an exclusive association in
India with Harvard Medical International (HMI) to improve the quality of healthcare."
Adopting New and Innovative Technologies
Every Hospital that wishes to move forward in quality care will have to adopt
innovative technologies. Recently, Wockhardt has adopted some of the latest
in technology like brilliance 64-Slice scanner, 3D viewing neuronavigation and
imaging, 1.5 Tesla MRI supported by functional 3D imaging, Video Assisted Endoscopic
Techniques (VATS), dedicated neurointensive care units and six ICU equipped
ambulances with GPRS installed in them. Dr Nazareth says, "We would be
further launching organ transplant programme and oncology center by the year
2009."
New initiatives
Wockhardt has taken interesting initiatives and has exciting plans for the future.
Dr Nazareth shares, "From three hospitals with 139 beds in 2000, the Group
has grown to a network of 12 super-specialty hospitals and five regional specialty
ICU hospitals with a total of over 1,500 beds."
Out of the 16 new hospitals, 11 will be brownfield hospitals, wherein Wockhardt
will tie-up with small or mid-sized hospitals in tier II towns and use and expand
their facilities. The new brownfield hospitals are coming up at Ludhiana, Varanasi,
Bhopal, Surat and Goa, while the five green-field hospitals, will come up at
South Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata.
CSR
The Hospital has joined hands with Needy Heart Foundation and making available
the paediatric cardiac surgeries for needy children at a highly subsidised rate.
It has also given free cardiac pacemakers to needy patients by collaborating
with the Rotary Pacemaker Foundation.
